The MT42 is the ‘the world’s thinnest, lightest and most powerful quad-core mobile thin client’, according to HP/IDC data. Measuring 18.8mm thick and weighing 1.5kg, the unit features quad-core AMD processors up to 3GHz: 10% higher clock speeds and two additional cores, compared to the previous generation.
Designed for mobile business customers, the MT42 is intended as a reliable and secure mobile cloud access point. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise for Thin Clients is pre-loaded (Windows Embedded 7 also available), so that customers can access the cloud and work with virtual desktops.
The 14″ display features 1920 x 1080 resolution and can be tilted back and forth using the 150° extra-wide hinge. The MT42 also features a spill-resistant keyboard and a touchpad with four external click-buttons. DisplayPort, VGA, USB 3.0 (x2) and USB-C ports are built in.
HP has used AMD’s Radeon R6 graphics, with a 32GB SSD and 4GB of RAM. The MT42 has been formerly shown off at VMWorld’s ‘Ready for Any’ conference in San Francisco, but a release date was not shared.
