A new AIO PC with very slim bezels, and a colour-critical professional monitor, have been announced by HP for a release this summer.
A stand-out model among the three new AIO PCs is the HP Pavilion All-in-One with Micro-Edge Display, which is a bit of a mouthful. This 23.8″ (non-touch) unit has a narrow bezel of 6.4mm and an IPS panel with 1920 x 1080 resolution.
AIO PCs tend to feature integrated webcams, but with such a thin bezel a conventional camera would not be possible. HP has instead installed a pop-up camera and microphone, which is hidden inside the AIO until it is pressed. Both the camera and mic are disabled when hidden, which should help to lessen security woes. The camera can optionally be upgraded to a Realsense unit.
Two other AIO PCs were announced, which are identical but use edge-to-edge glass rather than a slim bezel; they are 23.8″ and 27″. The larger version does not include the pop-up camera, but does have a touch screen.
The micro-edge PC can tilt between -5° and 25°, while the others tilt between 0° and 25°. Both edge-to-edge units have 1920 x 1080 resolution, or 2560 x 1440 as an option.
Internally, the edge-to-edge 23.8″ uses an AMD A9 processor and Radeon R5 GPU; the micro-bezel 23.8″ and the 27″ models use an Intel Skylake processor and optional Nvidia GT 930A graphics. They all have up to 16GB of RAM and HDMI, USB-C, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and RJ45 ports.
Both 23.8″ models will go on sale on the 10th July for $700. The 27″ will go on sale on the 3rd July, for $1,000.
Also in the Pavilion line-up will be a 32″ professional monitor, simply known as the HP Pavilion 32″ QHD Display. It has 2560 x 1440 resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate and 100% sRGB coverage. HP previously offered a similar model in the premium Envy line, but the Pavilion will be more budget-friendly, at $400 (launching on the 26th June).
The display will have a contrast ratio of 3,000:1 and 178° viewing angles; response time will be 7ms (GTG) and brightness will be 300 cd/m². DisplayPort, HDMI 2.0 (x2) and USB 2.0 (x3) ports will be featured.
