Honor 90 Display Performance: A Balanced Experience with Room for Improvement

The Honor 90 smartphone recently underwent Dxomark’s comprehensive Display test suite, which examined its performance across various criteria. The Honor 90 features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a screen-to-body ratio of approximately 91.7%, a resolution of 1200 x 2664 pixels, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

The Honor 90 display achieved an overall score of 140, positioning it favorably in the Dxomark rankings. It stood out particularly in color representation and readability, delivering a well-balanced performance in most everyday use cases.

When it comes to brightness levels, the Honor 90 offered a comfortable viewing experience in indoor and low-light conditions. However, in outdoor environments, the screen’s peak brightness was slightly limited, resulting in reduced contrast for displayed content.

The video-watching experience on the Honor 90 was generally good, thanks to the display’s adjusted brightness and accurate rendering of details, especially in mid- and dark-toned HDR10 content. However, some users may experience frame drops when watching videos or playing video games, which can affect the overall viewing experience.

One notable aspect of the Honor 90 display is its exceptional flicker management. The device boasts a high flicker frequency, leading to a nearly flicker-free experience and increased visual comfort for users.

Despite its strengths, the Honor 90 display exhibited a few areas for improvement. It struggled to maintain high brightness levels under direct sunlight, which could hinder outdoor visibility. Additionally, the device was unable to play UHD 60 fps videos, limiting its compatibility with certain high-resolution content.
