HDMI to MIPI and LVDS to MIPI Converter/Rotator Board Solutions From Q-Vio

Today Q-Vio, LLC (www.q-vio.com) introduced the world’s first and only commercially available HDMI to MIPI and LVDS to MIPI Converter/Rotator Boards (Patent pending). These new boards provide user-selectable image rotation and mirror image capabilities for standard format HDMI and LVDS video input to high resolution mobile MIPI format.

Some of the newest display technologies such as AMOLED and Retina are being pioneered in the mobile space and these ultra-high resolution displays are using a new mobile interface called MIPI. This acronym stands for Mobile Industry Processor Interface and is the prevailing interface for cameras and displays in Cell Phones and Tablets.

“We are very excited to offer this new display capability which opens up a broad array of cell phone and tablet LCD integration possibilities that did not exist before,” said Kirk Frederick, Q-Vio’s VP of Product Development.” LCD displays used in today’s Industrial, Commercial and Consumer products are typically oriented in a landscape position (i.e. 1920 x 1080 like a television). High resolution mobile MIPI-based LCD panels are natively portrait (i.e. 1080 x 1920 like a cell phone). This is a serious design barrier for engineers who don’t have the ability to rotate their image in software. The Q-Vio board solution solves this problem and bridges this technology gap.”

“This new family of converter/rotator boards are programmable for all 4-Lane MIPI-based displays and provide additional circuitry for backlight power and On-Screen Display control” said Ray Pronko, Q-Vio’s President. “With a very small footprint, this board will convert up to WUXGA (1920×1200) native resolution. These boards are currently configured to run with Q-Vio’s SunScreenTM Ultra-Bright 5″ FHD and 7″ WUXGA displays. Other input and display options are available for customer-specific applications. Our expanding product portfolio will include developing solutions for both WQHD (2560 x 1440) and UHD (4K) for release in the coming year. Display design engineers have been eager to take advantage of the ultra-thin, low power and low cost benefits of MIPI displays, but have been impeded by their complicated nature…until now.”

Q-Vio, LLC is a Display Technology Company that designs LCD display solutions for standard, outdoor and rugged applications. These HDMI to MIPI and LVDS to MIPI board kits extend Q-Vio’s reach into any Industrial, Commercial and Consumer application that will utilize a high-resolution, MIPI-based LCDs for Landscape orientation.
