The 12-week run of Hamlet, now ongoing at London’s Barbican Theatre, is being broadcast live, in DCI-4k resolution, to cinemas across the UK. Much as it did with War Horse (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 9) – although on a larger scale – Sony Digital Cinema is undertaking the capture and broadcast of the show. F55 cameras will be used for capture, and content will be mastered in UltraHD resolution and modified as a DCI-4k DCP for 4096 x 2160 projection, at 50fps.
