What They Say
Google was widely reported to have been hiring new employees to develop software for the control of AR devices after hiring former Meta/Oculus VR manager Mark Lucovsky to lead an “Augmented Reality OS team”. The postings included a note that the firm is working on an “innovative AR device”, but without details. The positions are in the US and Waterloo, Canada, where Google’s smart glasses company North is based, according to 9to5Google.
What We Think
Google released details on its 3D video system for virtual meetings earlier this year and given the hype about the Metaverse and its previous work on Google Glass, it would be surprising if it wasn’t working on something! (BR) (Google Previews Breakthrough Project Starline)
