Google has fuelled the fire of supposition that it may be planning to enter the gaming sector, with the appointment of Sony’s Richard Marks, head of the company’s Magic Lab team and a senior research engineer involved in the development of its PlayStation VR headset, PlayStation Move motion controllers, and EyeToy and PlayStation Eye camera peripherals.
Marks joins Google eight months after the company also recruited Sony’s head of game research and development, Phil Harrison, as VP and GM. Jack Buser, head of the team behind PlayStation Home, and ex-Microsoft employee Greg Canessa, creator of the Xbox Live Arcade, also now work for Google.
