Chrome 66, the most recent version of Google’s web browser, has added support for WebVR, a set of APIs for browser-based VR. Support extends to all major PC VR headsets including HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and the entire range of Windows Mixed Reality headsets, providing users are running Windows 10.
The new options can be accessed by typing “chrome://flags” into the browser’s address bar. A secondary option allows Oculus users to bypass the requirement for SteamVR. WebVR is also supported on Samsung Internet and Mozilla Firefox, as well as Supermedium, a web browser designed specifically for VR technology.
