Google Announces Jamboard Interactive Meeting Display

Google, not known for hardware, let alone for large displays, surprised us by announcing the Jamboard, a “digital whiteboard” designed for use in collaboration environments. The unit uses a 55″ UltraHD panel and has touch which detects fingers, passive styluses and an eraser object. Features include an integrated camera, speakers and Wi-Fi. It comes with the stand to make it easy to move. Connectivity includes USB Type-C and HDMI and the system has a processor (although the details are not available at the moment) and it runs a version of Android Marshmallow.

The unit will be available in 2017 (although a number of ‘early adopters’ may get them earlier) when it is expected to cost “under $6,000”.
