Global sales of semiconductors reached $30.9 billion for the month of March, which is a rise 18.1% compared to the March 2016 total of $26.2 billion. The March 2017 total was also 1.6% higher than February’s sales of $30.4 billion, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association.
Global sales of semiconductors for the first quarter of 2017 totalled $92.6 billion, which was a rise of 18.1% compared to the first quarter of 2016, but was down 0.4% compared to the last quarter of 2016.
The March totals for some regions rose with respect to the February totals. Europe increased 5.0%, Japan 3.6%, Asia Pacific/All Other 2.9% and China 0.2%. However, there were falls in the Americas by 0.5%. Compared to the same month in 2016, sales in March increased across all regions with China up 26.7%, the Americas 21.9%, Asia Pacific/All Other 11.9%, Europe 11.1% and Japan up 10.7%.
