GL Vision of Korea said that it has developed a new QDEF quantum dot film that has integrated water and oxygen barriers and based on its own QD manufacturing. The company sees applications in lighting as the film boosts the CRI for LED lights from around 80 to 95. The company lists 11 LED lighting-related patents on its website. It also has QD film for display applications and a light extraction film for OLEDs.
The new film is claimed to be around 100 µm thick, compared to existing films which are around 300 µm.
