Getac Expects Growth Above Rugged PC Trend

James Hwang, chairman of rugged PC vendor Getac, has said that YoY shipment growth is expected to reach 15% this year. The rugged PC market’s average growth is between 5% and 10%.

Getac recently began shipping its products to new clients, such as the US army and BMW, and expects three to five new customers to join this year. Rugged PCs are expected to contribute more than 50% of Getac’s revenues in 2015. Last year, rugged PCs were about 40% of revenue.

Hwang said that Getac has passed Dell, and is now the world’s second-largest rugged PC vendor, behind Panasonic. New solutions combining hardware, software and services will be launched in the second half of the year.
