Three German media and internet companies ( ProSiebenSat.1, RTL Deutschland and United Internet AG) have established a registration and single sign-on service online in anticipation of the EU’s new data protection standards which will apply from May 2018. The firms have founded a log-in alliance in collaboration with Web.de and GMX. Zolando SE, an ecommerce company, will be the first partner. Other services covered by the login will include OTT video.
Up to 45 million users will be covered and the companies said that they are open to other companies joining the scheme, which is expected to come into operation early in 2018.
