Games Industry Mourns Satoru Iwata

Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata – a man often credited with changing the gaming industry – has died of cancer, at the age of 55. Iwata was the company’s president, and was behind the launch of the Nintendo DS handheld and Nintendo Wii, both of which brought games to a wider audience. He famously said, “On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer”.

Nintendo rival Konami shared this picture, of Iwata with some of Nintendo’s best-loved characters.
