What They Say
Flanders Scientific has updated its AM210 and BM210 monitors to the AM211 and BM211, which are direct replacements at the same price, but with 96% of P3 coverage compared to Rec. 709 and better black levels, giving an increase of 30% in contrast. The improvements come from revised backlights and FSI said the new backlight uses a very similar LED element to that found in the higher-end DM170, DM240, and XM310K monitors.
The BM211 adds features including live side-by-side viewing for two signals, look LUT support, dual-link SDI compatibility, our advanced Video Data Analyzer, HDR Preview modes and more.
The new models also uses tetrahedral LUT interpolation on the BM211 helps to give consistency with FSI’s higher-end DM and XM series monitors, which all use tetrahedral LUT interpolation.
What We Think
I’m not sure how tetrahedral interpolation of 3D LUTs had not registered with me before. Chris reported on FSI’s use of the technology a couple of years ago in his NAB report. (Flanders to Upgrade LUT Technology) I also found a paper from IBC in 2014 on the topic here. (BR)
