BenQ has released the TK800 UltraHD 0.47″ single chip DLP home theatre projector with 3,000 Ansi lumens of output and supporting 92% of Rec. 709. 10 bit colour is supported and a claimed 10,000:1 contrast. The unit supports HDR10 format. The throw ratio from the 7 element, 4 group lens is from 1.47 – 1.76 (100″ @ 3.25 m)‎ with 1.2X zoom. The projector has a 240W lamp with a lifetime of 4,000 to 10,000 hours, depending on mode.

Noise is 29dB or 33dB depending on mode and there is a 5W speaker. Inputs are HDMI 1.4a and 2.0 and there are USB ports as well as RS232 and a DC 12V trigger.

An unusual feature is a ‘Football Mode’ that preserves skin tones and provides ‘lush green grass’ and it is supported by a Football Sound Mode that helps by clarifying announcements. There is also a Sports Picture Mode that focuses on skin tones and wood tones for indoor courts. It also has a special audio mode.

Pricing is $1,500 (or £1,299 including tax in the UK).

The TK800 is very well priced for an UltraHD HDR projector.
