France: Cable Climbing at Expense of DTH

Audience measurement company Mediamétrie says that around 75% of the French population (43.7 million people) now take satellite, cable or IPTV services. DTH reception has declined since 2012 to about 15.2 million, while cable has risen from 5.3 million in 2014 to 5.6 million. IPTV was up to 28.5 million. In terms of pay TV, there are now 12 million subscribers in France, with 9 million belonging to Canalsat.

Mediamétrie also announced that the average French home contains 6.4 screens. 96% of homes hold a mobile phone, followed by computers (84%) and connected TVs (56%). Tablets (45%) are next.
