Reuters reports that ‘hundreds of workers; have have joined in with unrest at the Foxconn Zhengzhou factory, breaking surveillance cameras and smashing windows. The outbreak is said to have been triggered by a plan to delay bonus payments, according to livestreams from protestors. Some said that they had been forced to share dormitories with those that had tested positive for Covid-19.
Foxconn said that it had fulfilled its payment contracts and that reports of infected staff living on campus with new recruits were “untrue”.
The BBC said later that Foxconn had apologised for a “technical error” in its payment systems, and had a video showing protestors clashing violently with police.
