The Elec reported that SFC Co Ltd, a joint venture in Korea of Samsung Display and Japanese chemical firm Hodogaya won a battle with LG Display over patent number 2277303 in June of this year, after a complaint was made in January. The patent relates to the use of deuterium in OLEDs.
The paper said that LGD (with Material Science) still has a patent number 2136806 related to deuterium
What We Think
LGD had previously said that the key issue was not the use of deuterium per se, but the efficient and economic extraction of deuterim for use to make brighter OLEDs, so it may have already known that it was on weak grounds in terms of the patent. But patents are a mystery to me! (BR)
