Facebook said in a Twitter dialogue that it expects to extend the life of the Quest 2 headset “for a long while” and will introduce a “Pro” version, but not this year.
“Resident Evil 4” is to be a Quest 2 exclusive.
What We Think
Facebook is intent on expanding the installed base of VR users as we reported recently (Mark Zuckerberg Talks on the Future of AR and VR). In one sense, this may mean something more like a console business model than a general CE product. Consoles need to maintain a steady platform for some time to make it worthwhile for developers and Facebook knows that both hardware and content has to be available for the market to develop. (BR)
