Epistar to Increase LED Capacity by 300%

Taiwan sources say that LED maker, Epistar of Taiwan, is to increase its capacity for CSP (chip scale package) LEDs that are used in TV backlights, by 300%. The chips have previously been used in direct LCDs, but are now to be used in edge lit sets. The sources quote the global market as being 230 million CSP LEDs per month, with Epistar claiming 30%. The company is also said to be developing QD on LED technology for the devices and hope to get them into sets by early 2017.
