Eizo has developed a large, UltraHD screen for air traffic control (ATC), which we first saw at Electronica 2014 (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 45). The Raptor RP5824 is primarily designed for Asian markets, we heard at the show, which do not have the same regulations as Europe. It is a 57.5″ model, with a picture-by-picture mode to show data and auxiliary information at the same time.
The screen features two power supplies for redundancy and (direct-LED) backlight systems for reliability. In additional, the backlights are monitored by an internal sensor to stabilise and maintain brightness levels. We heard at Electronica that the monitor also features CIE colour space calibration.
A high 4,000:1 contrast ratio is joined by a 9.5ms response time, 176 deg viewing angles and 350 cd/m² of brightness. The RP5824 features two dual-link DVI ports.
