A proposed merger of Fox and Disney has been agreed. Disney will acquire Fox for $71 billion, subject to approval from US territories. Shareholders of both companies also agreed terms for the spin-off of various parts of the company.
The acquisition of Fox has seen a bidding war between Disney and Comcast, which outbid Disney last month but withdrew from negotiations when Disney again upped its offer.
As part of the merger, Disney will acquire a number of Fox’s intellectual properties, including X-Men, Deadpool, Avatar, American Horror Story, The Simpsons and Family Guy.
