Dish and CBS Finally Reach an Agreement

As we have reported before, Dish Network and CBS have been in negotiations about a new carriage agreement for quite some time. Now the companies say they have reached an agreement which satisfies both sides’ aims to reach their strategic goals. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ray Hopkins, president, Television Networks Distribution, CBS Corporation said: “We are very pleased with this deal, which meets all of our economic and strategic objectives”.

On the other side Dish Network will extend digital access to Showtime through Showtime Anytime.

One of the key issues the companies had to resolve was the Dish AutoHop feature that allows viewers to skip advertisements. The new agreement will disallow AutoHop for all CBS shows in the C7 window (7 days), after both parties also agreed to dismiss all litigation over PrimeTime Anytime and AutoHop.
