Semiconductor maker Dialog, of the UK, is to buy Atmel, which, among other things, makes touch controllers and is well positioned in the IoT, according to specialist analysts. The deal is expected to close early in 2016. Atmel will use a combination of cash, debt and new shares to finance the transaction which is valued at for $4.6 billion. It plans to recoup the debt within three years.
