Deutsche Telekom Relaunches IPTV Platform to Broadband Users

Deutsche Telekom relaunched its direct-to-home IPTV platform Entertain last week. Previously, the platform was aimed at those with little-or-no broadband service. Now, Entertain is targeted at those with broadband and a satellite dish, with services that take advantage of both connections, according to Broadband TV News. Residents of areas without sufficient data rates will no longer be able to access the service.

Users with internet connections of at least 16Mbps will be able to stream TV channels, including their HD counterparts, as well as accessing interactive functions and on-demand streaming services. The set-top box will apparently decide which reception method is appropriate for each channel. A spokesperson also confirmed to Broadband TV News that Deutsche Telekom will split with satellite platform HD+.
