Dell Convertible Supports Wireless Docking

Dell said that its shipments of 2-in-1 convertible PCs grew 48% in Q1 2017, against market growth of 46% according to IDC data quoted by the firm. Dell added two new products, the Latitude 7000 – a 12″ detachable 2-in-1 that is claimed to be the world’s thinnest and lightest Windows-based commercial 2-in-1 and is the first to offer wireless charging. The Latitude 5000 is the same size and is claimed to be the most secure 360º convertible laptop on the market and to deliver the world’s longest battery life in a convertible.

An unusual feature of the 7000 is support for a WiGig dock so that no cables need to be used to dock or undock when the system is used with a charging mat.

There is a 13″ version of the 7000 and all models use Gorilla Glass and support the Dell Active pen.

Each of the systems is available with a range of different Intel Core i3,i5 and i7 processors, up to 16GB of memory, 12.5″ displays with FullHD and from $899 (5000) and $1,199 (7000) with the 13″ version of the 7000 due in August.
