A new LCD monitor, spotted on Dell’s Chinese website, boasts very wide colour gamut coverage and factory calibration.
Known as the UP3017 (not to be confused with the UP3017Q, an OLED monitor seen at CES: Digital Experience Has Lots to See), Dell’s 30″ display covers 99% of sRGB, Adobe RGB, Rec.709 and DCI-P3. It uses an IPS panel, can display 10-bit colour and features a Delta E of <2. X-rite i1Display Pro software can optionally be bundled with the monitor.
The IPS panel provides 2560 x 1600 resolution, an 8ms response time and 1,000:1 contrast ratio, as well as 178° viewing angles. Brightness (edge-LED backlight) is 350 cd/m².
DisplayPort, mini-DisplayPort, HDMI (x2), USB-A 3.0 (x2) and USB-B 3.0 (x2) interfaces are featured, and the DisplayPort also doubles as an output for daisy chaining.
The UP3017 can be raised and lowered (130mm), tilted (-5° – 21°), rotated (60°) and pivoted (90°).
Dell China lists the monitor for CNY11,260 ($1,710) ex VAT.
Analyst Comment
Dell talked about its work in developing this wide gamut technology in a talk at the Display Summit in this week’s Infocomm special issue. (DS02 Dell Explains Adobe-compliant Monitor). It’s notable that there has been no sign at all of the OLED monitor since its brief appearance at CES. BR
