Dashbon was a new name to us and the company was showing its Flicks boombox. This is a full projection system that is built into a unit that includes a full featured audio system that can be independently be used as a bluetooth stereo speaker system. The projector supports 700 lumens of brightness and was developed as an Indiegogo project. The DLP projection unit supports 1280 x 720 resolution and is said to run for up to four hours on battery.
Dashbon also had a camera-based system using an infrared ‘wand’ that can add ‘Virtual touch’ to any projection system. The system needs to be calibrated and the demo unit was not well fixed to the projector, so the demonstration wasn’t very convincing. Nevertheless, we can imagine that there are people who would like to add a low cost touch solution to an existing projector.
The firm was also showing the ‘Beam Block’, a pogo pin-based modular projector that can support two hours of operation at 300 Ansi lumens with the standard battery or 4 hours with the added power bank. It is also available with a module including a Windows 10/Android dual boot tablet with a 4.5″ display (similar to the one that Aiptek has – Man. Ed.). The projector uses the latest 0.3″ 720P DLP chip from TI that uses the ‘Manhattan’ pixel, rather than a diamond pixel and this delivers better performance when used to show text. The complete system will cost €699 when it launches in 8 weeks or so and the projector alone will be offered for €499 (including tax)
