Darbee Enhances Optoma Imagery

We heard about a DLP projector with a new image enhancement system from Optoma at IFA this year (IFA 2015 Roundup) – and it has now been launched. The HD28DSE (Darbee Special Edition) is the result of a partnership with DarbeeVision, whose technology is built into the home entertainment projector.

Darbee’s Visual Presence technology uses proprietary algorithms to enhance detail and depth – in skin tones, textures and reflective surfaces. Larry Pace, president of Darbee, said, “[Our technology] can correct the flatness and loss of realism of every image ever taken. Darbee Visual Presence image enhancement technology uses computation to process images in the same way the brain does, resulting in revolutionary and never-before-seen levels of depth, clarity, object separation, and realism for an immersive and lifelike viewing experience”.

Resolution is 1920 x 1080, and the 210W lamp (8,000-hour life) provides 3,000 lumens of brightness. The projector has a 30,000:1 contrast ratio and 1.48 – 1.62:1 throw ratio, throwing a 42″ – 300″ image from 1.5m – 10m. The unit supports 3D and has a 1.1x optical zoom.

Optoma’s HD28DSE features MHL-HDMI (x2) ports and a powered USB socket, as well as a 10W speaker. It measures 315 x 224 x 114mm and weighs 2.6kg. The projector will be on sale in Europe in mid-October, for £585 ($905).
