Cynora Combines Efficiency with Long Life in TADF

Cynora’s labCynora of Germany has released new data on the development of its TADF OLED materials that are claimed to combine both high efficiency and long lifetime, for blue emission and keeps the company on track to be able to produce commerical products by the end of 2017, it said.

As we reported at SID, in May 2016, Cynora said that it had established two blue emitter systems, with one of them showing a high efficiency while the other showed a long lifetime. During the last 6 months the company has made further significant progress by combining high efficiency and long lifetime in a single blue emitter system. In an OLED device, the new blue material reaches 14% EQE (external quantum efficiency) together with a lifetime of 420h (LT80, at 500 cd/m², λ < 480 nm). With this performance, Cynora believes that it has now shown that blue TADF emitters can reach OLED display specifications soon.

Although the current lifetime is well below what is needed for use, what is impressive is the speed with which Cynora is progressing. (BR)
