PC hardware supplier MindFactory has attributed a shortage of graphics cards in Germany to the growing trend of cryptocurrency mining, according to a report on tech news site, Tom’s Hardware.
It has been widely reported that the practice of mining cryptocurrencies such as BitCoin or Ethereum has been causing inventory issues of graphics cards in the US, from manufacturers such as nVidia or AMD. The issue has now apparently reached European shores, with mid-range cards now seeing price-hikes in response to the lack of stock.
Many products have now been pulled from digital storefronts altogether. In an email to Tom’s Hardware, MindFactory confirmed that it has taken down the listings because it simply cannot get hold of any stock for the foreseeable future.
