Common Interface (CI) Plus has launched a new enhanced content protection (ECP) security level designed to protect the next generation of premium content and Ultra HD TV. The new security level is based upon the recent DVB v1.4 specification and is designed to satisfy the content protection requirements expressed by MovieLabs.
CI Plus is now actively engaged with content providers and other stakeholders to enable the use of its ECP for the distribution of premium content, including UHD. Security experts from Trusted Labs were appointed for the definition of its protection profile, including robustness considerations, attacks and countermeasures. The company also updated its certification regime and test tools to ensure the compliance of registered devices with the ECP specifications, along with a new logo for the easy identification of compliant devices.
