Christie Named Laser Projection Sponsor of the 2015 Hollywood Post Alliance Tech Retreat

Christie, the industry’s preferred brand in the digital cinema projection market, has been named the laser projection sponsor of the 2015 HPA Tech Retreat®, February 9 to 13 in Indian Wells, Calif., with Da-Lite providing the screen.

Tech Retreat attendees will see for the first-time ever at this bellwether event an industry-leading laser projection solution; one that delivers incredible brightness, wider color gamut and astounding contrast.

Specifically, the Christie 3P RGB laser solution produces a native color gamut that far exceeds that of other traditional lamp-based projection systems. The result is deeper, more saturated color reproduction, providing the movie industry’s technical and creative staff with a means to view enhanced, true-to-life content on a large cinema screen format.

“The projection solution that we are demonstrating at the Tech Retreat represents the pinnacle of single-head laser projection systems,” said Dr. Don Shaw, Christie’s senior director, Product Management. “Coupled with a scalable and redundant, rack-mounted laser light array via a fiber optic link, the Christie 3P RGB laser solution will be of particular interest to the management, technical and creative members of the HPA for their studios and post-production houses.”

“In addition, Christie’s 3P laser solution complements the firm’s dual-head 6P laser solution, which is optimized for 3D reproduction, ensuring that the entire cinema industry has access to 4K resolution, the widest color gamut, and highest brightness levels for both 2D and 3D content,” added Shaw.

Dr. Shaw will deliver a technical overview and live demonstration of the Christie 3P RGB laser projector, which is now shipping and meets Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) specifications, on Tuesday, February 10 at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the main conference room. The Christie 3P laser projector will also be used by industry visionary, Matt Cowan, for his talk entitled, “Extended Color Gamut: What Do Artists Need?” during the Next Generation Cinema session taking place on Wednesday, February 11 from 4:15 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. Attendees can also join Dr. Shaw during two breakfast roundtables on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, entitled, “Laser Projection for Cinema: Why, When and How Much?” For complete details on the Christie laser technology, visit www.christiedigital.com/lasertech.
