Following the introduction of the 4K30, Christie has expanded the 3DLP Boxer line with three new models, with the same capabilities as the previous unit.
All of the new Boxer models (2K30, 2K25 and 2K20) feature built-in warping and blending (Christie Twist), omnidirectional installation, a preview screen and NFC.
A standard feature is the integration of Christie’s TruLife Lite technology. Full TruLite projectors support a video processing pipeline of 1.2Gigapixels (1 billion pixels) per second, enabling the transfer of DCI-4k content at 120Hz. These ‘TruLife Lite’ models support 300 Megapixels per second. The technology features a floating-point processing engine with the equivalent of 25 bits fixed point processing resolution. Christie says that TruLife Lite enables an increase in dynamic range and scaling.
All projectors can be rigged and stacked. They have a 2,000:1 contrast ratio and either 2048 x 1080 or 1920 x 1080 resolution (optional on each projector). They use 450W mercury lamps (six on the 2K30, five on the 2K25 and four on the 2K20), lasting up to 1,500 hours to 70% brightness.
Nine lenses can be used with the new Boxer models. These include two fixed lenses (0.72:1 and 0.9:1) and seven zoom lenses (1.13-1.31:1 to 5.43-7.69:1). They feature input card options, which will support DisplayPort, HDMI (2.0 or 1.4), 3G-SDI, 12G-SDI or fibre. Each projector has HDBaseT and RS232 inputs.
Brightness differentiates the units. ANSI lumens are 29,000 (2K30), 24,500 (2K25) and 19,500 (2K20).
The projectors measure 597 x 959 x 305mm and weighs 72kg. They will be shipped in the summer. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
