Sigmaintell of China has reported that Chinese OLED makers produced 78,000 m² of OLEDs in 2017, with Visionox from Kunshan producing more than 30,000 m², a market share in China of 38.9% and with new orders from ZTE, Nubia and Xiaomi.
Sigmaintell said that the volume was 9.8 million pieces to companies including Huawei and Hisense. In volume terms, Everdisplay Optronics (EDO) in Shanghai had a 39% share, but as its panel sizes were smaller, it was behind Visionox on area.
BOE is investing in Chengdu for flexible OLEDs, but current production is of rigid displays. The researcher also said that Tianma is increasing its back end production capacity and that means that overall it expects good growth in 2018.

In a very poetic mood. Sigmaintell described the OLED business in China as a ‘Thorny Rose’ and said that the industry would need “calmness and discretion” in its development. (BR)
