Case Against Toshiba Dropped in CRT Price-Fixing Lawsuit

Toshiba has been released from ongoing multidistrict litigation initiated by Marta Cooperative of America, who allege that a range of companies violated federal antitrust laws by conspiring to fix the price of cathode ray tubes. Marta has dropped its allegations against Toshiba specifically but will continue to pursue its claims against the other companies involved in the lawsuit.

Analyst Comment

Toshiba was fined back in 2012 by the European Commission (€28 million) over the CRT cartel (Display Monitor Vol 19 #49) and the case was brought against Sharp and others. Toshiba seems to have been released on a legal point related to the action. (BR)
