Canon Develops Laser-Phosphor Projector; Works 4K

Canon has a line of LCOS projectors branded as REALiS, but at Infocomm 2015, the company showed a DLP-based laser-phosphor projector for the first time. It is an 8,000 lumen prototype offering a resolution of WUXGA (1920 x1200). It is slated for introduction in Q1’16.

In addition, Canon was showing a 4K prototype in its NDA room, which it would not allow us to see. Perhaps we will know more later.

There were no new product announcements at the show, but the latest projector is their WUX500 , a compact installation product. The top of the line is a 6000 lumen WUX6000 model.
