What They Say
Brelyon said that it was at CES to show its displays that use ‘monocular depth’ to produce desktop monitors that are intended to give a sense of immersion and depth without using stereoscopy. The firm uses ‘computational wavefront technology’ to exploit human depth perception principles. There is a Tedx talk about the technology here. The first product is athe XBFGD
The firm also said at the event that it planned to use P-OLED technology from LG Display to make displays.
What We Think
The promise of this technology is that the virtual display is much bigger than the actual display. I have been intrigued by the firm’s technology for a while, but still have not had the chance to see it for myself. I’ll add this item to the things I missed by not being at the show myself. Using the LG P-OLED displays is not going to be cheap, but Brelyon is not, at this stage, aiming at high volumes, as far as I can tell. (BR)
