What They Say
BOE has released information in Chinese about a new miniLED display that allows the development of a transparent display where the area of transparency is around 90% of the pixel and where the overall transmittance of the display reaches more than 65%. Contrast is reported to be 100,000:1
What We Think
Well, there is nothing terribly new about this concept and one of the key benefits of microLED displays is that they allow ‘sparse matrices’ – that is to say, large areas between the active or blocked areas of the pixel. Those areas can be used for transparency or for the inclusion of additional features such as sensors or processing. (BR)
