MMD is focused on ergonomics with its new Philips-branded LCD monitors. The 22″, 24″ and 27″ displays follow the ergonomic guidelines of Germany’s Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
All three models (220B4LPYCG, 240B4QPYEG and 272B4QPJCG) are built with the Philips SmartErgoBase, which enables -5° – 20° tilt, 130° swivel, 90° pivot and height adjustment. The 22″ can be adjusted to 110mm, the 24″ to 130mm and the 27″ to 120mm.
A flicker-free backlight is built in. All three monitors feature a power sensor, which can detect when a user is sitting in front of the display; if a person is not found, display brightness will be automatically lowered. In addition, all three models are made with recycled plastics, which qualifies the 22″ and 27″ (65% recycled plastics) for the TCO Certified Edge certification. The 24″ is made with 25% recycled materials (qualifies for EPEAT Gold).
Philips’ SmartImage technology is pre-installed, which automatically optimises image content, based on what is being watched. The 27″ also features a picture-by-picture mode.
The monitors share a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and DisplayPort, DVI-D and VGA ports. The 22″ and 24″ units feature two USB 2.0 inputs and two 1.5W speakers; the 27″ has four USB 3.0 inputs and an MHL-HDMI port, as well as two 2W speakers.
A TN panel provides the 22″ model with 1680 x 1050 resolution, 170°/160° viewing angles and a 5ms response time. The monitor also has 250 cd/m² of brightness. The 24″ has the same level of brightness, but uses a PLS (IPS) panel; this has 1920 x 1200 resolution, a 15ms response time and 178° viewing angles. Finally, the 27″ features an IPS-AHVA panel, with 2560 x 1440 resolution, 12ms response time and 178° viewing angles. This model has 350 cd/m² of brightness.
MMD will release the new monitors in September. They will start at €185 (22″), €245 (24″) and €435 (27″), ex VAT.
