Barco Shows Smallest-Ever Cinema Projector

Barco’s new digital cinema projector is the company’s smallest ever. The DP2K-6E is 689 x 664 x 369mm and weighs 53.8kg (‘small’ is a relative term… – TA).

Featuring Barco Alchemy processing, the new 3DLP projector can throw images up to 7.5m wide. It is also said to be twice as quiet as any other digital cinema model currently on the market.

Control can be accomplished locally, via the Barco Commander software, or remotely, via Barco Web Commander software. RJ45 (x3), GPIO (x8) and a USB port can be used for control. Three 1TB HDDs, in a RAID-5 array, provide 1.9TB of usable storage.

The projector supports HFR 3D (up to 120 fps) and the JPEG 2000, MPEG-2 and H.264 codecs.

Resolution is 2048 x 1080. Dual 465W lamps provide up to 4,800 lumens of brightness using DCI colour, or 7,200 lumens without. Contrast ratio is 7,500:1. There are five lens options, with throw ratios ranging from 1.2 – 1.7:1 to 2.0 – 3.9:1.

DisplayPort (x2), HDMI, 3G-SDI (x2), USB 3.0 (x2) and USB 2.0 (x2) ports are featured.

Barco showed the projector at CineEurope this month.
