We reported on new laser-based (not laser phosphor) rear projection cubes in general in our coverage of the Display Summit conference at Infocomm (DS31 Barco Happy with RP Cubes for Control Rooms). However, somehow, Barco sneaked out the ODL-721 last year, without us picking it up. The 70″ cube has brightness 940/730/364 cd/m² with lifetimes of 60,000/80,000 and 100,000 hours respectively and FullHD resolution. A range of alternate front screens can offer different brightness and gain. The cubes have wide colour gamut (170% of EBU) and use DLP imagers.
Barco will show the unit at DistribuTech 2017 in San Diego, California from January 31 – February 2 along with its OpSpace control room system which allows the use of multiple displays from a single hardware configuration of displays and mouse/keyboard.
