Asustek is likely to choose Samsung Display to supply OLED displays for the headsets that it is developing for Microsoft’s Mixed Reality platform (previously Holographic) according to Digitimes, while the headsets are likely to be made in Taiwan.

OLEDs do have advantages in terms of speed and lightness, but as Tianma showed us at MWC (Tianma Shows Flex & VR Panels), the less obvious black mask in LCDs can give a smoother image. Acer has chosen LCDs for its development kit (Microsoft Shows Acer HMD Development Kit). (BR)
