Astronomers Build 364,000″ Image of Milky Way

A team of astronomers at Germany’s Ruhr-Universität Bochum have built the world’s largest-ever image of the Milky Way galaxy – so big, in fact, that it would take 5,200 70″ UltraHD TVs to display it as a single object. The whole image is made up of around 46 billion pixels, and would take about 364,000″ of UltraHD viewing space. The ‘super photo’ was built from 268 invidividual images, over five years.
