Asia/Pacific Tablet Market Gains in 2022, Set for Decline in 2023

The Asia/Pacific tablet market experienced a 1.5% YoY growth in 2022, with 57.8M units shipped, mainly driven by consumer demand in China due to COVID-19 lockdowns and control policies. Consumer shipments grew by 4.5% to 45.4M units, while the commercial market declined by 8.2%. The education sector was the only segment to grow in 2022, due to government initiatives and large projects in several countries.

According to IDC, the tablet market in the region is expected to decline by 11.5% in 2023 to 51.1M units, as demand weakens post-pandemic. The unfavorable macroeconomic environment and cautious IT spending by businesses will continue to negatively impact the market, with the education sector also forecasted to shrink due to fewer large-scale projects.
