ARM Hopes to Speed IoT Device Creation

A new tool, specifically for Internet of Things devices, has been developed by ARM. The ‘Mbed IoT Device Platform’ is an open-standards operating system. ARM says that it combines ‘internet protocols, security and standards-based manageability into one integrated tool’. It is designed for products using Cortex-M processors. Mbed will be available to partners in Q4, with production devices arriving next year. Bluetooth Smart, cellular connectivity up to and including 4G, Wi-Fi and Thread (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 29) are among the features and standards supported. Partners include Atmel, Marvell, Renesas and Silicon Labs.
