An iOS developer has spotted that in the latest Apple Homepod speaker software update, there are lines of code that refer to an Apple TV version that supports both UltraHD and HDR. The HDR support is expected to cover HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision.
Analyst Comment
Of course, building in possible software support doesn’t guarantee that Apple will support these technologies, but its a useful indicator. The AppleTV is well away from the leading edge of streaming devices, now, and is overdue for an update. Forbes in the US is confident that a new box will be shipped this year. (BR)
