What They Say
Bloomberg’s Apple expert, Mark Gurman described ‘at least’ three Apple XR headset developments.
- N301 – probably to be called the Apple Reality PRo and a high-end rival to Meta Platforms Inc.’s upcoming Quest Pro probably for at least $2,000
- N602 – the successor to the N301 and may be lower cost
- N421 – the ‘long-held dream of augmented reality glasses’ – but he doesn’t expect to see it any time soon
He also re-iterated that in this week’s planned event for Apple there will be no iPhone 14 mini to succeed the iPhone 13 mini. Instead, Apple is focusing on large devices. It’s planning a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
What We Think
Apple is happy to come later to the party and then deliver something it thinks is compelling. It has so far sat on its hands on folding handsets and must be confident that eventually it will exploit its ecosystem and customer loyalty to bring something in with a bit of a bang!
