AMD’s Carrizo APU (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 9) has been officially announced, aimed at laptops and AIO PCs. It is part of a new APU family due to be released in the first half of 2015, which consists of the Carrizo and a lower-cost product called Carrizo-L. Carrizo is based on a 64-bit AMD CPU core known as Excavator, while Carrizo-L uses an enhanced version of the Puma CPU core used seen on the Beema and Mullins 354 (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 18).
Both new APUs are likely to be available in dual- and quad-core variants, with DDR3 and DDR4 support. As well as CPUs they are SoCs integrating GPUs: next-gen Radeon graphics for Carrizo and Radeon R-Series for Carrizo-L. Additionally, they will integrate an AMD Secure Processor.
